Honey
243 West 14th Street
New York NY 10011
In this horrible economy, the last thing anyone needs is empty promises and over priced parties! Most New Year’s Eve parties are packed beyond reasonable capacity and don’t deliver on half of what they promise.
We are only selling 250 tickets, you won't have to fight your way to the Open Bar or eat remnants of picked over Hor’s D’oeuvres. Like the mailman, we always deliver! With the chaos of the Meatpacking & the tight velvet ropes, Honey is a welcomed nightlife addition to the over hyped scene invasion. It's what the Meatpacking was waiting for... a chic environment catering to the locals, foodies and night owls. With exposed brick, warm mahogany paneling, chocolate brown leather banquettes and a 25 foot amber backlit bar, this 3,000 square foot venue is set to be the neighborhood sweet spot.
The edges of MePa’s oversaturated sponge get a little soggier with the opening of Honey. On the spectrum of nearby 14th St fare, this resto-lounge sits comfortably between the pomp of Plumm and the college-age shenanigans of pubs just a stone’s throw away. With its sleek, syrupy-toned décor and poprock selection of music, it appeals to both scenesters and sorority alums in one fell swoop. For patrons too timid to either sweet-talk their way past Plumm’s velvet ropes or down half-a-dozen pints, they can walk over to Honey for a taste of both scenes. Honey dispenses a subtle dose of sweetness with its honey- and molasses-hued art, walls and banquettes. Globe lanterns give off a soft amber glow, adding a bit of intimacy to the late-night ambiance. Appetizers take their inspiration from classic cocktails like the salmonojito and tuna colada, while traditional Kobe beef and duck confit satisfy a hungrier appetite. Wash everything down with a crisp honey mojito before attempting to sing along to U2 or Guns n’ Roses.
Spots without scenes are few and far between in this neighborhood, but the low-key, no-crowd vibe at this lounge fills the void. The sunken, gold-dipped room, with amber candlelight and electronica in the background, is a no-hassle place to get amped for nearby dancing or to unwind afterward. Thankfully, the gourmet bar menu (think cheese fondue fries and honey-glazed chicken sliders) doesn't overdo the sweet namesake ingredient, and neither does the list of signature martinis.
